Black Mountain Golf Club:
Has been voted, one of the 100 best golf courses in the world.

Black Mountain was transformed from lush unkept jungle and pineapple plantations, into how you see it today, one of the World’s Top 100 Golf Courses. The course is located around 25 minutes West of Hua Hin Town Centre. Set in a valley, the course is surrounded by huge black granite rock covered mountains, which gives the Course its name. The Black Mountain golf course was the site for two Asian PGA tour events in 2009 and 2010, and, Europe versus Asia Royal Trophy played in 2011. Since 2012, and each year after, Black Mountain has been selected as one of the 100 best golf courses outside the USA by Golf Digest magazine. In 2014 Black Mountain first hosted The Thailand Classic, the very first European Tour event to be staged in Thailand. The Thailand Classic was also held in 2015 and 2016 and is now a permanent major fixture on both the European and Asian Tours.

The golf course is as natural as possible and maintains many original features from before the course was constructed. The most important of these are the small streams that run throughout the Black Mountain course. and the rock formations, that the course designers have kept on many of the holes. Most of the original trees were kept, and many new ones have planted. Meandering streams with Bridges for carts to pass over, frame many of the course’s holes.

The new nine-hole West Course was opened for play in 2016. Many people who play the course, like the composite nature of the course, while some purists choose to stick with the original 18-holes.

Black Mountain is not only a real test for top professional players but is also very playable for the average club golfer. Each one of the holes provides the golfer with a safe route from Tee to Green, but for the more adventurous of you, there is a higher risk option, which offers a potentially greater reward. Black Mountain gives generous fairways for the shorter hitter. that become narrower for the longer drives. The greens are large with many pin positions, changed daily, that provide different degrees of difficulty. Many white sanded, sculptured bunkers protect the holes.

The Seashore Paspalum grass used on the course, tee arears, fairways and rough gives a beautiful playing surface and a beautiful Emerald Green colour to the Course. The well-kept Tifeagle Bermuda grass used on the greens yield a fast and accurate all year-round playing surface.

Some of Black Mountain’s best holes are the par-5, 6th Hole. The peninsula green can be reached in 2 shots by an aggressive longer hitter, while the average golfer has a regulation path to the green requiring a series of 3 shots around the tree and water fronting the green. Next, the 7th hole, a par- 4, which provides you with two realistic ways to play the hole. Carry the drive 230 yards or more over water, and you will be rewarded with a comfortable wedge to the green. Others might need 2 shots to play around the water hazard, first to the left and then back to the right, making it almost impossible to par. This hole is again an excellent example of risk & reward. You can find on each of the holes at Black Mountain.

Another outstanding hole ,is the signature 11th, a par-3, hitting over water to an island green. With no bail-out area to either side of the hole, and an all-water carry, club selection here is critical, for a dry landing and a birdie opportunity. If not a Dry Landing, the generous drop area to the left of the green minimizes high scores and at least provides a “watery bogey”.

The views from the clubhouse are spectacular and offer a 360-degree panoramic view of the whole golf course and mountain range. The clubhouse facilities on offer include, a fantastic fine dining opportunity in the restaurant, an extensively stocked golf pro shop, with Black Mountain branded Golf wear, and many of the other famous branded names, clubs, balls, shoes, also available to buy, excellent practice areas, a driving range, luxurious locker rooms for both Men and Women, and even an on-site spa if you want to totally relax after your game.

Black Mountain other facilities include a fully catered golf resort with both villas and condominiums, general store for provisions, and just down the road, a family-oriented waterpark. Black Mountain is European owned and managed which assures you of excellent standards of service, all year round and makes it one of the most popular golf courses in Hua Hin.
